Analog 2 tracks are still very popular for making a track come together at mixdown, even if it’s coming from a digital multitrack. Ampex ATR102 1/2”, 1/4” and even 1” machines are popular, with great sound and reliability. Earlier Ampexes also have unique qualities. Studer A820 1/2” and 1/4” and Studer A80 1/2” and 1/4” machines all sound great and add a quality unreachable by any other means. Earlier tube (valve) Studers have great sound. All can also be used for tape delay and analog flanging. There are currently two companies manufacturing all formats and sizes of these vintage tapes. And top technicians for your service needs.
